Jumping ahead...
That thing always happens at the end of the semester when time speeds up and flies by, but no excuse for the lack of posts. In short, Thanksgiving, Final Review, and last days in Seoul were all pretty great, but it was 24 hours and then on to meet M&D in Beijing. And now, a brief journey through China, in photos.

long time no post!
Well, it’s that time of the semester again, when you were just complaining about wanting a decent non-asian meal and then BAM! It hits! There are only two and a half weeks left in Korea! Which means two weeks ‘til final review, which means no more time for fun and games. Sorry to be slacking on the posts, but we’ve been hitting the grind hard in studio, taking time out for only...
IWW, Conference and Workshop
So, I won’t bore you with details of the conference, lectures on New Orleans and the Mississippi River Valley, Coastal Louisiana, etc., but it was pretty cool to listen in and feel like I sort of knew what was going on.
The best parts of the academic/professional side of the week, though, were the tour of outer-Amsterdam and the WMS workshop [more on this in a second]. The tour was a great...
everything all at once
I honestly don’t know how I’m going to recover from this last round of travel, adventure and architectural self-discovery. Thinking about this past week on top of everything else from the past seven months makes my brain hurt, in the best way. Winter break is going to see a LOT of sleeping, I think…especially now that there’s a flight booked back to St. Louis for the final...

back to the grind, but not for long.
Japan was an amazing 10 days, but it was definitely a long time to be away from studio…this week we’re hitting it hard, getting back to the drawing board (pun intended) to finalize schematic design before laughing into construction drawings next week. I’m a little nervous but hopefully the kimchi turns itself into a building before I head to Amsterdam on Monday for International...
JAPAN06_Tokyo
Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong: the three Asian cities I’ve been looking forward to seeing most. I’ve really been missing New York from STL and I thought that these metropolises might remind me of home…only crazier! And, here’s a shocker, I loved Tokyo. It had a great energy on the street, incredible food and fashion, great architecture, and once we got the hang of it, the subway...
JAPAN05_TSUKIJI!
I think this blog has been getting a little architecture-heavy with not enough food. It’s not that I didn’t eat a lot in Japan- we went out of our way to try lots of new and exciting things- but a lot of the time, I was a little too distracted by all the yummy things to get my camera out. Not so during our visit to the world’s largest fish market, Tsukiji market in Tokyo. I have...
JAPAN04_Yokohama
Phew! After Takamatsu, Naoshima, Osaka, Kyoto, Ibaraki, and Nara, it was time for one last stop before out final stint in Tokyo: Yokohama. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the city, but I sure was dying to see that ferry terminal. For good reason…it’s an incredible project. I really like FOA’s drawings of it, too. Photos:
